Divorce can feel like the end of everything familiar, a deep fracture in life’s foundation. Yet, it can also mark the beginning of a powerful transformation. This story is about healing, growth, and the unexpected blessings that come from choosing obedience and faith over bitterness and despair. It’s about how one woman rebuilt her life, found peace, and discovered a joy she never imagined possible after divorce.

Embracing Healing Through Obedience and Faith
Healing after divorce is not a quick fix or a simple process. It requires intentional choices and a commitment to personal growth. The journey began with a decision to stay true to core values and identity, even when life felt uncertain and painful. Instead of reacting with anger or resentment, the focus was on obedience to God’s guidance and trusting that healing would come in time. I did not do this perfectly. I was angry. I was bitter and resentful. I pleaded with him to stay and choose us, but when he remarried soon after our divorce, I had no choice but to concentrate on healing. That's when the transformation began. I want to help you bypass the pain I experienced at the start, so you can begin your healing journey now.
Healing meant:
Prioritizing emotional regulation: Learning to stay calm and centered, even during difficult moments.
Showing up authentically: Being honest with oneself and others about feelings and struggles.
Choosing love over bitterness: Maintaining a loving relationship with children and family despite the challenges.
By committing to these principles, the foundation for healing was laid. It was not about perfection but about persistence and faithfulness to what felt right and true.
Building a New Life Step by Step
One of the most tangible signs of renewal was the ability to own a home. This milestone was not just about property but about reclaiming independence and stability. Every step of the home-buying process felt guided and blessed, from having more than enough funds for the down payment to moving in a month before closing. This achievement symbolized a fresh start and a safe place for healing and growth.
Key practical steps included:
Financial discipline: Achieving a debt-free life by adhering to a budget, excluding necessary payments such as a mortgage and car loans, is possible. With God's help, I managed to do this, and He can provide you with the discipline to achieve it too.
Trusting the process: Believing that God was orchestrating every detail, even when things seemed uncertain.
Creating a nurturing environment: Making the home a place of peace and comfort for myself and my children.
This new home became a sanctuary where healing could deepen and relationships could flourish.
Strengthening Relationships with Children
Divorce frequently unsettles family dynamics, but healing can mend and even enhance relationships. My connection with my sons improved significantly. After the divorce, I went through a mental breakdown and returned to alcohol use, resulting in my grown children wanting nothing to do with me.. However, I made the decision to become sober and maintain my sobriety. As I began to heal, I showed up consistently calm, composed, and was the loving mother they deserved. Be able to manage my own emotions even during difficult conversations. This consistency established a secure emotional environment for them, fostering trust and strengthening our bond.
Important practices included:
Being present and authentic: Showing genuine care and attention without pretense.
Modeling emotional regulation: Demonstrating how to handle stress and emotions in healthy ways.
Fostering open communication: Encouraging honest conversations and listening actively.
These efforts led to a deeper, more meaningful relationship with them, one built on love and mutual respect.
Leading and Serving Others
Healing also opened doors to serve and lead within my community. Taking on leadership roles at church provided purpose and connection. It was a way to give back, support other women, and share the strength gained through my journey.
This involvement brought:
A sense of belonging: Being part of a supportive community.
Opportunities to inspire: Encouraging others who face similar struggles.
Personal growth: Developing new skills and confidence.
Serving alongside others reinforced the healing process and created a positive cycle of support and encouragement.
Finding Love and Purpose Again
Perhaps the most profound blessing was finding a new marriage with a man of God who loves, supports, and prays over me. This relationship is rooted in shared faith and purpose, a true partnership where we walk together in service and love. It is a reminder that life after divorce can hold unexpected joy and fulfillment.
This new chapter includes:
Mutual spiritual growth: Seeking God together in all decisions.
Shared service: Working side by side in ministry and community.
Daily purpose: Living each day with intention and gratitude.
Our love story is a testament to the power of faith and obedience, showing that blessings often come when least expected.
Healing from divorce is a journey of choosing faith, obedience, and love over bitterness and despair. It requires patience, courage, and a willingness to trust in God’s plan. The transformation from brokenness to blessings is real and possible. When you say yes to what God asks, blessings follow in relationships, finances, and purpose.
If you are facing your own healing journey, remember this: your yes matters. Your obedience opens doors to blessings beyond what you can imagine. Keep showing up, stay true to your values, and trust that healing and renewal are on the horizon.
